US5:US5, have taken the UK by storm and have been hailed as the next 'supergroup' by the media and several important people in the music industry. Already a huge success in various parts of Europe, the band has been touring the UK this summer playing at gigs and supporting Girls Aloud and Simon Webbe. US5 also has their very own tv show - Big In America, which airs on Friday evenings on TMF at 6.30pm AND this week their UK debut single Maria is launched. It is selling really well through Woolworths, HMV, Virgin and Asda in outlets up and down the country and on as downloads from the stores and via itunes. US5 love the UK and the British fans and already have sack loads of mail and literally thousands of messages on their official website. The boys can't believe the amazing reception they have had and want to thank everyone for their support. This is the new big thing from Pop Mogul Lou Pearlman (the creative genius behing The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync). The band were formed from the hit TV reality show "Big in America." These 5 guys sing brilliantly, dance and are creatively talented with some members of the band composing songs and lyrics for their albums. From literally thousands of hopefuls, Big In America narrowed down a final list of young men with great vocal and dancing talent and sent them to a mini music 'boot camp' in Orlando USA to develop their skills and confirm the final 5 members of the band. From these amazing start in the USA, US5 then worked supremely hard to achieve great success in Europe. With support from their European Management Company, Triple M, the band hit No.1 in the German Billboard Charts with their debut single "Maria" and received the German Radio Music Award for "Best Newcomer 2005." "This is the ultimate boy band" says Pearlman, CEO of Trans Continental Records. US5 consists of Michael,Chris, Jay, Izzy and Richie. The group now live and work in Europe. Chris:Date of Birth: August 7, 1988 Height: 178 cm Hair: blond Eyes: blue Chris hails from Orlando USA where magical dreams really do come true! When he was picked to be in US5 after a gruelling round of auditions, this was the realisation of his most passionate lifetime dream. The band, the music, the dancing and the touring with US5 are Chris's life. He also loves photography and takes pictures of people on his travels throughout Europe and the USA. Chris is the thinker in the band and has a continual thirst for learning new things. He dropped out of school to realise his dream and now reads as much as he can to stay in touch with news and views. He also writes songs and he has co-written a song with band mate Ritchie which they hope will be on a future US5 album. The demands of life on the road are gruelling, mentally and physcially and Chris needs to stay in top condition. He stays in shape by surfing whenever his schedule allows him to. Chris really loves the UK and has enjoyed meeting the fans and seeing lots of new places around the country as the go to gigs and radio stations. Chris's mother is a teacher and his father salesman and he has he has an older sister Eva who he stays in touch with by email. Izzy:Date of Birth: September 19, 1983 Height: 173 cm Hair: red Dreadlocks Eyes: brown zzy lives and breaths music and has been singing and dancing since he was 15 years old. Before he joined US5, Izzy was in a band called EXACT which opened for Aaron Carter and Jessica Simpson in the USA before he was discovered for US5 by Lou Pearlman (the creative genius behind The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync). Izzy is a hugely talented dancer and performer and can backflip to order. He has worked and trained hard all his life to realse his dream and making the final line up in US5 was one of the best moments in his life. His compelling personality, beautiful smile and his trade mark dreadlocks and tattoos make him stand out from the crowd, plus he has a wicked sense of humour. His practical jokes amongst the band have become almost legendary! Izzy is very much an individual and a talented creative writer with several excellent poems and short stories as part of his growing portfolio. He likes to write whenever he has time out from his busy schedule. Izzy also loves the UK and thinks the fans here are amongst the best and most friendly in the world. Izzy has a younger sister and a brother. His parents still live in his hometown of Stockton, Californian and are very proud of their son. Jay:Date of Birth: March 31, 1982 Height: 188 cm Hair: brown Eyes: brown Jay is a true Brit and was born in West Sussex. He is multi talented and creative and not only sings and dances but also composes and acts. Several of US5's hits in Europe have been penned or co-written by Jay. He started his music career by knocking on the door of one of the most successful production companies in Europe, Triple M Music resulting in a successful seven year relationship (which continues until today), with Jay in the studio constantly recording and writing songs. Jay is the ultimate professional. He is a perfectionist and gives 100% to all the projects he is involved with, concerntrating now on US 5 and their success in Europe and the UK. As well as being a driving creative force, Jay loves tennis and is rumoured to have won some big tournaments in his time and he also has a huge sense of fun and is a great practical joker. The UK is important to Jay and he really wants the band to make it in his home country as he loves returning here and is a fan of the English sense of humour, as well as diversity of the UK music scene. Jay has also enjoyed introducing Chris, Michael, Richie and Izzy to the British way of life. Jay has two younger sisters, the twins Kamran and Yasmin. They are very proud of their big brother and US5. Mikel:Date of Birth: July 18, 1987 Height: 176 cm Hair: black Eyes: brown Michael's passion has always been dancing and singing and he started perfoming at the age of 11 in Europe and the USA. Michael was spotted as a future talent by an International label at 12 but his family wanted him to continue his schooling and training until he was a little older. During this time he was a dancer performing with various USA and European artists. Michael was subsequently discovered by Lou Pearlman (the creative genius behind supergroups The Backstreet Boys and N'Snyc). Pearlman called him "the new Michael Jackson," and Michael can emulate his namesake's singing voice and dance movements effortlessly as a party piece. His distinctive style sets him apart from most performers and he has an incredible energy and crazy sense of humour. When told he had made the final line up in US5, it was a dream come true and worth all the years of practise and hard work. Michael loves to entertain and he also is a dedicated sportsman playing basketball or soccer whenever he has a spare moment. Michael has three brothers and one sister. Richie:RICHIE STRINGINI Date of Birth: November 28, 1988 Height: 173 cm Hair: blond Eyes: blue Born in Chicago USA, Richie has been in the entertainment industry since the age of 4. He starred in several musicals including Christmas Carol and Wizard of Oz, TV commercials such as MacDonald's and Mickey Mouse's Etch-A-Sketch and Hollywood movies such as "Rule Number One." Before joining US5, Richie was well on his way to becoming an actor when he auditioned for the band. With his new change in career Ritchie set about dedicating his talents to singing, dancing (and writing songs), but he still uses his acting talents to impersonate friends, family and his fellow group members. Ritchie is also the joker in the band and keeps everyone amused when on the road or inbetween takes of US5's hugely popular TMF show Big In America. One of the best things about being in the UK, apart from the great fans, is Ritchie's love of Christmas and Halloween which he really likes to celebrate in style. Family is very important for Richie.
